Aconcagua Valley
- Our favorite tour!
Take
a virtual tour
with recent clients Dusty & Nikki.
The
Aconcagua Valley, located about an hour’s drive north of
Santiago, is known for Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. On a clear
day you can see the stunning peak of Aconcagua which gives the
valley its name. At nearly 23,000 feet it is the highest peak
in the western hemisphere. Wineries which
we may visit include Errazuriz, Von Siebenthal or San Esteban.
A delicious Chilean lunch will be prepared by our hosts Marcela
and Alexis at Casa San Regis, a beautifully restored hacienda
dating back to the 1750s.

(with mention of Santiago Adventures)
West
of Santiago, on the road to Valparaíso, is the Casablanca
Valley. A cool coastal climate makes this wine-growing region
ideal for white varietals, and accordingly the Casablanca Valley
is known for its premium Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc wines.
Wine production began in this region in the 1980s, and as a result
the wine facilities here have a very modern feel. Wineries that
offer visits include Casa del
Bosque, Indómita, Veramonte, Villard, Vina Organico Emiliana
and William Cole. For lunch, we will visit one of two gourmet
restaurants, House of Morandé or Indómita. We typically
combine a visit here to the San Antonio
Valley or other coastal destinations such as Valparaiso or
one of the small fishing villages on the coast.
Cachapoal
Valley
Cachapoal
Valley is one hour south of Santiago and lies between the Andes
and the Coastal Range. Producing primarily red varietals, the
valley is quickly earning an international reputation for premium
Cabernets and Merlots. Winery visits include Altair, Anakena,
Casas del Toqui, Chateau Los
Boldos, Gracia, La Rosa, Misiones de Rengo and Torreón
de Paredes. We have several great options for lunch including
a boutique hotel with beautiful gardens, a very typical local
restaurant to experience "comida tipica", a historical
hacienda and several of the wineries.
Colchagua
Valley
For
good reason the Colchagua Valley was rated the best Wine Region
of the World by Wine Enthusiast in 2005. The valley produces excellent
Malbec, Syrah, Cabernet and Carmenere wines and is home to two
of Chile's most famous wineries - Casa Lapostolle and Montes.
In addition to the thirty five wineries in the valley there are
many options to combine
wine tourism with gastronomy, trekking, horseback riding and a
world class museum. Approximately two hours from Santiago makes
Colchagua within reach for a day tour but your best bet is to
stay a night or two as you are sure to find plenty to do. Let
us provide you with the perfect custom tour to Colchagua for one
or more days.
Maipo
Valley
The
Maipo Valley is the oldest wine-producing valley in Chile, and
it lies just south of Santiago, extending from the foot of the
Andes to the middle of the Central Valley. This valley produces
bold Cabernet Sauvignons that have garnered international recognition.
Chile’s largest and more traditional wineries can be found
here, but the region is also home to up-and-coming boutique wineries,
many of which
are owned by Chileans who have partnered with French, U.S. and
Italian winemakers. Wineries we visit may include: Almaviva, Antiyal,
Aquitania, Concha y Toro, Cousino Macul, Haras de Pirque, Paseos
del Vino, Perez Cruz, Quebrada de Macul Santa Alicia, El Principal,
Santa Rita and William Fevre.

The
San Antonio Valley is the nearest valley to the Pacific coast
and its cool climate is excellent for producing white wines, pinot
noirs and cool climate syrahs. Both Matetic and Casa Marin wineries
are beautiful wineries to visit and produce top rated wines. We
typically combine a visit here to the Casablanca
Valley or other coastal destinations such as Valparaiso or
one of the small fishing villages on the coast.
