Experience
more than 100 years of Chile’s pre-eminent wine history
with a stay at the Bouchon family hacienda “Santa Maria
de Mingre Estate.” The estate was founded in 1892 when
M. Julio Bouchon S., a French immigrant from Bordeaux, purchased
370 hectares (1000+ acres) in the Maule Valley, a region known
for its unique soil and Mediterranean climate.
Visits
to J. Bouchon are arranged exclusively through Santiago Adventures
and are an intimate experience with the winery owners. During
your stay you will be treated to the best of Chilean hospitality
and explore the traditions of the Chilean "campo."
A visit to their Mingre estate is like going back to colonial
times to a real Chilean farm where traditions are still kept,
Chilean "Huasos" (cowboys) are seen on horseback and
nature surrounds you.

vines, with an average age of 60 years, produce wines deep in
color and rich, fruity flavors. Reserve wines mature in French
oak for 3-12 months. Consulting winemaker Patrick Valette has
worked with J. Bouchon over the past several years creating internationally

Day 1 - We will depart from your hotel in Santiago
at 9:30am and drive south to the Curico Valley.
The valley is home to some of the big names in Chilean wine
including San Pedro--the second largest winery in Chile--and
Miguel Torres, the famous Spanish winemaker
who first introduced modern wine making techniques to Chile.
We will stop in to the Miguel Torres Winery for a history lesson
about their arrival to Chile in 1979, and taste some of their
innovative wines of the Cordillera line.
Next we
will visit the new Viña Altacima winery.
Owner/wine maker Klaus Schröder has been making wine in
Chile for over 40 years – previously with wineries such
as San Pedro, Santa Rita and Errazuriz. It is a small, modest
winery, but very well-designed and producing first-rate results.
We will have lunch in the Schröder’s home after the
visit.
Continuing an hour south, we will arrive to the Maule
Valley. Here will be met by our host and fourth generation
wine producer, Julio Bouchon. He and his family’s
Chilean farm at Santa Maria de Mingre will take you back to
colonial times where traditions are still kept. Chilean “huasos”
(farmer/cowboy) are seen on horseback and you are surrounded
by nature and tranquility. “Mingre” is where they
produce their best wines as well as where you will find their
modern winery and hacienda-style home built in 1890.

Day
2 - Mingre Life - Today you will have the day to explore
and experience Mingre life.
Start
your day exploring their private estate by horseback, mountain
bike or on foot with Julio as your guide. He will tell you about
their Mingre vineyards as well as the surrounding natural habitat
identifying the native trees, birds and other wildlife. Returning
to the guest house there is time to freshen up before a private
tour of the winery facilities, premium tasting and delicious homemade
lunch with Julio.

Afternoon
& evening at the lodge - As you begin to relax and
take in the evening breezes and tranquility of the vineyard, you
might enjoy a siesta or a soak in the uniquely-crafted Bouchon
barrel hot tub. For dinner, you will experience a traditional
Chilean asado and of course continue tasting the many fine Bouchon
wines. Finally, Mingre life always promises an unforgettable night’s
sleep after a perfect day in Chilean wine country.

Day
3 Maule Valley - Buenos dias! You will have a fresh country
breakfast before we say goodbye to our gracious host, Julio, and
continue with our wine valley exploration. Driving deeper into
the Maule valley we will arrive to Viña Caliboro. This
hidden gem is the Chilean estate of Francesco Marone Cinzano.
Their Erasmo wine is a unique Chilean wine that follows in the
footsteps of four centuries of excellence in winemaking by the
Cinzano family in Italy. We will tour the winery, which is housed
in a beautifully restored adobe bodega before our tasting and
special lunch in their farmhouse. In the afternoon, this magical
tour of Chile ’s wine country will end back in Santiago.
